Frequently Asked Questions

Our Products

The designs on our "tree shirts" are original artwork inspired by the beauty and energy of trees.  Our shirts are made from 100% organic cotton, 100% bamboo or a blend of both.  We chose these fabrics because they are soft, durable and environmentally beneficial.   Tees 4 Trees shirts are dyed with low impact reactive dyes, which meet the Global Organic Textile Standards and contain no heavy metals, chlorine bleach or optical whiteners.

Additionally, we use only the most eco-friendly screen printing process around. All shirts are printed with water-based inks, which do not contain environmentally-harmful PVC or phthalates.  Water-based inks soak into and become part of the cloth itself, resulting in a breathable, durable print that will not crack or wear off over time.

Tees 4 Trees only uses suppliers who are committed to ensuring their products are manufactured in a socially responsible way.  Workers enjoy a safe and healthy work environment, are paid fair wages, and benefit from equal opportunity employment.

How is organic cotton different from regular cotton?

In organic cotton, there are no synthetic fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides used.

What is the difference between screen-printing with plastisol and screen-printing with water-based inks?

Conventional screen-printing is done with plastisol inks which contain environmentally-harmful PVC and phthalates.  Prints with plastisol inks also result in a plastic print that is not breathable, while water-based inks soak into and become part of the cloth itself, resulting in a breathable, durable print.  Water-based ink prints will not crack or fade after long-term wash and wear.

How does Bamboo wash and wear?

Bamboo fiber is very thin, hollow and perfectly round, and it's much lighter and softer than cotton. By twisting several fibers together, bamboo can be made into clothing of the same thickness ranges as cotton but will feel much softer against the skin. Bamboo fibers are also extremely strong and durable and will wear over time as well as if not better than cotton.  Our bamboo shirts can be machine washed and dryed.  For best results, turn garmet inside out, wash on delicate cycle in cold water and dry low.
